The LPYAA proudly offers Softball in the Lake Placid Area!
SOFTBALL
ages
Minors for Grades 3, 4 & 5
Majors for Grades 6, 7, & 8
*Check the baseball page for T-Ball and Rookie opportunities for children younger than 3rd grade.
WHEN
Softball season typically begins after Spring Break on or around May 1st (weather dependent).
Registration opens around April 1st.
Minors and up may continue through mid-July.
WHERE
Minors practices at the Lake Placid Elementary School Softball Field.
Majors practices at the Horse Show Grounds Softball Field.
PRACTICES
All programs typically practice twice a week during the week throughout the season.
GAMES
Most games occur mid-week, replacing traditional practices. Games may be played in Lake Placid, Saranac Lake, Bloomingdale, or Tupper Lake. Occasionally, games may be made up on the weekends due to rainout or scheduling issues.
JERSEYS
Practice/game shirts are included in the cost of registration.
Frequently Asked Questions
What equipment do we need?
Cleats are suggested and must be rubber/molded (no metal allowed). Each player should have their own glove. Bats/face shiels and helmets are provided for practices and games from the association.
Are scholarships available?
The LPYAA offers need-based scholarships upon request. Contact lpyaasports@gmail.com to inquire about funding options.
